My name is Rowan Panther and I am the SF Northland Maori Family/Whanau Fieldworker up here in the winterless North. Originally from Auckland, my family and I decided to move from the "Big Smoke", back to the North where both my parents were born. This was done 11 years ago and we have never looked back.
As a caregiver myself for a tangata whaiora family member I enter this position with my own experiences that I am able to draw from in relating to others in a similar situation. I also have a background of working within residential accommodation
This year, however will see me working a lot more in the community and with whanau members. My role will be to awhi and tautoko whanau who care for whanau members with major mental illness. I hope to do this by helping whanau identify and utilize resources within their own whanau and community so that we are able to reach our full potential.

Hi, my name is Karin Le Breton and I am the new Fieldworker here in sunny Whangarei. I am originally from Christchurch, having lived here in Northland for 2 years with my partner and 2 pre - teens! This keeps me busy.
I have my Diploma in Social Work and am about to start the Bachelor in Applied Social Services majoring in Counselling.
My background is in children and families, having worked for Child, Youth and Family and Ngati Hine Health Trust as a Family Start Social Worker.
I have a passion for mental health and how this impacts on families, after walking alongside a family member offering support and being a part of her daily struggles.
I look forward to an interesting and challenging year with SF Northland, where being part of the team will broaden my experiences.
