Details
New Mental Health Line for Counties Manukau
Staffed by skilled and experienced mental health professionals, this service
will operate during the 'after hours' period (5.00pm - 8.00am weekdays, plus
24/7 weekends and public holidays) and will ensure that clients, their
families, other agencies and the community have enhanced access to mental
health services during this period.
At 5pm on Monday 18 February 2008 the service commenced. Mental Health
clients can assess this new service by simply calling their current Community
Mental Health Centre or Specialist Service. From here they will have the
capacity to connect to Mental Health Line.
A Carer's Strategy For NZ
The Ministry of Social Development and the Carers Alliance, a network of 43
non-government organisations, are working together to improve support for
family and other informal carers through the development of a national Carers'
Strategy.
Developing the Carers' Strategy is part of the Government's Choices for
Living, Caring and Working ten year strategy which aims to provide parents
and carers with choices about how to balance their work and family
commitments.
ADHB Carer Support Subsidy (NZ)

The Family Court arranges free
and confidential counselling for couples
who are having problems with their relationship, or who are separating and need
help reaching agreement on issues such as arrangements for the care of their
children. Counselling is also available for parents and guardiansof a child if
they are unable to reach agreement on an important issue concerning the child.
You can ask for counselling at any time, even if the Family Court is not
already involved in the matter. If the Family Court is already involved, you
can ask for counselling at any stage of the Court process. The Court will pay
for up to six counselling sessions in each 12-month period.

The Wilson Centre Respite Services (NZ)

Equip is a non-profit trust associated with Windsor Park Baptist Church
covering Central Auckland, North Shore and Rodney District. Equip provides a
range of mental health services, including a Suicide Prevention Service which
offers ongoing support, training and education to the families and caregivers
of people who threaten or attempt suicide.
Lifeline (NZ)
LifeLine aims to reduce personal stress through readily available
counselling and provides 24 hour, 7 day a week free telephone counselling;

Samaritans (NZ)
The first New Zealand centre was set up in Wellington in 1965. Wellington
Samaritans has been operating ever since, typically now taking about 20,000

Zealand.

An 0800 Family Violence Information Line (0800 456 450) provides self-help information and connects
people to services where appropriate. It is available seven days a week, from

Inner City Womens Group (NZ)
The Inner City Women's Group was established in May 1988 by Auckland
Women's Refuge as a support group for the partners of men attending Anger
Management programmes. After initial meetings it was decided that the Women's

Preventing Violence In The Home (NZ)
