Position: Central Auckland Pacific Island Familiy Fieldworker

Talofa! My name is Mona Tupuai newly appointed Pacific Family Fieldworker based at our Central office for Supporting Families in Mental Illness. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be able to help find a pathway for our Pacific families to have more awareness and understanding of the recovery process of their loved ones dealing with a Mental Illness.

At the beginning of this year I decided I needed a change and took up further study into Mental Health. Today I find, I am at where my heart has led me towards my passion of being able to support /help families on their road to recovery in Mental Illness.

I am Samoan foremost and very proud of my culture which makes me who I am, born in NZ living both here and in Australia over the years.

I am very excited to be able to work in a team dedicated to helping families. Life is full of stressors sometimes which can be made extra challenging when faced also with mental health issues and the feeling of not being accepted through the stigma and discrimination of Mental Illness.

I look forward the challenge ahead of seeing more Pacific families access our services. Feel free to contact me.
